Wild Lives
Do you ever stop to wonder about all the other lives being lived? There are 7 BILLION people on this planet, each living a life - waking up every day, going about a routine, working, eating, laughing, loving. It's really an interesting mental exercise. Just to get out of your own head for a moment and consider the ins and outs of even one other person you don't know. I dare you to try it. Pick a stranger, any one. Maybe it's the guy buying coffee ahead of you, or the high school student working the cash register, or the lady that just passed you on the highway, or the couple walking down the block. Where are they going? What are they thinking about? Are they having a good day? A bad day? An important day? Who do they love? What are their fears? What are they skilled at? This could turn into a VERY deep wormhole, but I know a few people quite good at playing this game. It can be a fun way to spend an afternoon at a coffee shop, but also a way to gain some perspective when you're feeling especially great at life, or when you're feeling especially uninteresting. Sometimes we get so caught up in our own world that we act as though all these other people are just characters in the play that is our life. It's important to remember that each of those people also has a story. It's mind boggling really. And that's just the people!
There is also a world FULL of animals who are living a life, perhaps with less consciousness than we do, but how do we know for sure? Those who have pets whom they love know that animals have their own personalities as well. Some are goofy, some are lazy, some are clever, some are adventurous.
In going through some of Brad's past photos I have discovered a variety of beautiful photos of Alaskan wildlife and have been looking for a way to display them all together. We have not traveled deep into the wilderness to find these creatures. We have simply crossed paths with them over the past couple of years as we live our life and they live theirs. In looking at them all together, it is fun to think of giving them stories, names, accents, personalities.
Play along, won't you?
